18 YEARS OF SHAPING DERMATOLOGY. ONE VISION. A LASTING LEGACY.
Great legacies begin with a vision and the determination to bring it to life.
In 2007, Professor Assem Farag envisioned a platform to advance dermatology and aesthetics while connecting Egypt with the wider African and Middle Eastern medical communities.
In 2008, that vision became Sharm Derma. Its first edition in Sharm El-Sheikh welcomed 600 attendees, beginning a journey rooted in scientific excellence, education and collaboration.
Its purpose was clear: to connect dermatologists with evidence-based research, emerging techniques and innovations shaping their field. Through continuous evaluation, Sharm Derma strengthened its scientific content and commitment to professional growth.
In 2011, despite Egypt’s difficult circumstances, the conference continued as scheduled, strengthening a bond with its community built on trust and a shared belief in medical education.
By 2013, its presence extended across Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh. In 2015, Spring and Fall editions established a year-round educational journey, supported by regional and international collaborations.
In 2020, Sharm Derma embraced digital learning, reaching 10,000+ attendees from 48 countries, alongside more than 73 national and international speakers.
From its original 600 attendees, it has grown into a major scientific hub, bringing together 4,000+ attendees, over 200 speakers and 95+ exhibitors, with five parallel halls delivering three days of scientific exchange in Cairo.
Beyond the numbers lies Professor Farag’s enduring achievement: a community united by knowledge, collaboration and a commitment to advancing medicine.
The Power Leaders celebrates Professor Assem Farag for turning a bold vision into a lasting legacy one that connects generations of dermatologists, advances scientific exchange and demonstrates the power of leadership with purpose.
